I remember Phyllis Davis standing up in front of a crowded room of more than 100 CEOs, and in her calm and powerful voice say, "“I believe the world is desperate for heroes and heroines. I'm waiting for the first CEO to stand up during these challenging times and say to his stakeholders and stockholders, “Follow me. On behalf of myself, our board of directors and our employees, we publicly promise you we will tell you the truth. We promise to deliver a good product or service on time and we will stand behind what we sell.”

There was not a sound in the room for a full minute.
